Hunting Dogs can be a Great Security System

I never felt all that close to my husband’s hunting dogs. They were fine and I admired their beauty and how well-behaved they had become, but they were always at his side or off on a hunt with him. That all changed when my husband had to go away on business and the dogs were left at home with me. I woke the first night to one of the dogs whining and licking my face while the other was tugging my pajama bottoms with his teeth. I immediately smelled gas in the house. I got up, ran outside and called the gas company with my cell phone. Those dogs never left my side. I never thought of our hunting dogs as anything more than my husband’s hunting companions, but now I tell everyone that they are my own personal security system.
